Empowering Tip: Make yourself happy

This week’s quote is one I’ve been thinking a lot about lately.  It was said by Isaiah Henkel:  “Don’t ever feel bad for making a decision that upsets other people. You are not responsible for their happiness. You are responsible for your happiness.”

I feel like this is where people get lost a lot – when they start making decisons for other people.  For parents, friends, teachers … even society.  A lot of people are molded by what others want, and they won’t make a decision because it will upset someone else.

We’re really losing sight of the goal here – which is to be happy.  That’s the only thing you’re responsible for – your happiness, not others’.  If someone is upset about a decision you make that makes you happy, then how happy can they really make you?

There are other people out there, and there is bound to be one who is not going to be upset with your decision.  You have to do what’s best for you.  Why waste a second trying to make someone else happy, when you’re in the body you’re in?  That’s who you’ve got to look out for.

So spend the week doing what’s best for you – and be happy.
