Empowering Tip: People decorate your life

Hi everyone!  It’s the last day of my winter break, and it’s been wonderful.  I’ve gotten to spend so much time with my family and friends, and I really got to relax and rejuvenate!  I also got my first college acceptance letter – to University of Iowa – hurray!  So yeah, it’s been a good couple of weeks.

That brings me to today’s quote, which is truly beautiful and so true:  “The most treasured gifts are the meaningful moments we create with the people we love.  They become priceless memories decorating our lives.”  This was said by author Dodinsky (and here is a video of his writings you might like, too).

Many young people don’t think it’s cool to spend time with family, or friends’ families … if you’re one of those, I ask you to take a step back and reconsider.  It’s such a gift to be able to love those people in your life, to spend that time with them, to create those memories.  Every day is a new day to meet someone new, to cherish a moment, to remember a memory, to have more of those.

It’s a new year – and like Em & I said in the last Empowering Tip, all a new year means is a new set of 365 days of life – the chance to make new resolutions every day.  So this year, spend time with your family and those people close to you.  These are people who will stay in your life – and that’s important to cherish.

These people do decorate your life; value them, and enjoy them.  It’s good for everyone.
